Village of Forest income tax rate is 1.25%
Residents who earned wages for which Village of Forest tax was not fully withheld, or who have any other sources of taxable income such as business, farm, rental, gambling, or 1099-MUST file Forest returns, even if no tax is due. All returns should be filed thru the Regional Income Tax Authority (RITA).
All individuals who are required to file will need to include copies of W-2’s and any applicable Schedules in order for the return to be acknowledged and accepted by the Regional Income Tax Authority and/or Village of Forest.
Generally, taxpayers can determine their taxable wages by using the higher of the amount reported on the W-2. Other sources of taxable income include wages, tips, business, farm and rental income.
Sources of income that are not subject to Village of Forest income tax include Social Security benefits, pensions, interest, dividends, unemployment benefits, workers’ compensation, military pay and alimony.
HB 5 will mandate that any person owing $200 or more in income taxes will be REQUIRED to file quarterly declaration estimated payments.
Effective 1-1-14, there is NO credit allowed for taxes paid to other municipalities.
All individual tax returns MUST BE received by RITA or POSTMARKED by FEDERAL FILING DATE.
Important Info
Effective 1-1-2023, the Regional Income Tax Authority (R.I.T.A.) will take over ALL municipal income tax collections for the Village of Forest.
After 1-1-23, you will file and pay all income taxes due to the Village of Forest directly thru their website: www.ritaohio.com or via mail.
