Draft plan and next steps for Forest Wastewater System

On 6/25/25, Wessler Engineering presented their draft findings for wastewater improvements for the Village of Forest.

The Village of Forest is undertaking major improvements to its aging wastewater system to address compliance issues, improve treatment performance, and reduce long-term operational costs. Wessler Engineering, the project lead, evaluated the current lagoon and vacuum systems and proposed several alternatives. The preferred lagoon improvements include dredging, adding UV disinfection, and upgrading aeration systems. For the collection system, options include rehabilitating the existing vacuum system, installing a low-pressure system, or constructing a gravity system—with each option carrying different costs, timelines, and maintenance requirements. The project remains in the planning phase, with design and construction expected through 2029, and funding options are being pursued to support the multimillion-dollar upgrade.

Wessler Engineering will be at the next council meeting on July 7, 2025 @ 7pm to answer any questions.
